Grip dots work as a team. Spread them evenly across the underside of an object and they share the job of resisting slide and lift. The spacing you choose sets everything downstream: a tighter grid puts down more dots, more rubber contact, and more grip, while a looser grid is quicker and cheaper but holds less.

It depends on the spacing. Lay the dots in a grid at a fixed centre-to-centre pitch and, along each edge, you fit one dot every pitch plus one at the start. This tool multiplies the rows by the columns to give the total count for your exact region.
How far apart should grip dots go?
Closer spacing means more dots, more contact area, and more grip, but more cost and work. For holding a light mat or tray, a wide grid of 40–60 mm is often plenty; for a heavier item or a slippery surface, tighten the spacing until the coverage feels right.
What coverage percentage should I aim for?
There's no single number — it's a balance. A few percent of contact area is enough to stop a light item wandering, while heavier or more slip-prone jobs benefit from denser coverage. The coverage figure lets you compare layouts before you buy or peel a single dot.
Can the dots be closer than their diameter?
No — the centre-to-centre spacing has to be at least the dot diameter, otherwise the dots would overlap. The calculator flags that so your grid stays physically buildable.
